Today we're excited to announce the redesign of Askville.com. The aim of the redesign is to make it easier for you to Ask, Discover and Answer questions on Askville. There are several components that make up this release including:
Conversational-style Q&A. We made it trivially easy to Ask and/or Answer questions. Simply type your question or answer, hit the submit button and your words will be live on the site instantly. And, if there is a follow up question, no problem, the conversation can continue right where it left off on the page.
Category Following. If you are interested in a category,you can now "follow" it and we'll keep you up-to-date of any activity within that category. The more categories you follow the more questions you will see. If you decide you are no longer interested in a category, simply "unfollow" it and we'll stop showing you questions from that category.
Personalized Homepage. Now you will only see the questions that are in the categories you are following on your homepage. Plus, if you Ask or Answer a question on Askville we make it easy to keep track of your conversations by showing the responses right on your homepage.
Answer Feedback. You just click the ‘say thanks' link to show your appreciation to an answerer. And, anyone in the community can rate answers by voting, "was this answer helpful? Yes/No." The new feedback features make Askville a more pleasant community and percolate relevant answers to the top of the page.
Simplified Profile Page. We've decided to focus on Achievements, Compliments and Essential Statistics – Questions, Answers and helpful votes. A cleaner interface makes it easier to track personal progress or quickly assess a fellow community member.
Improved Category Tree. We've consolidated categories to have more vibrant communities, renamed categories to make them easier to understand and improved our auto-categorizer.
